A Personal Update & Thank You

Hi, I just wanted to make a personal post to thank everyone who has recently contacted me and checked in after my accident.

As I was getting ready for the SOS toy fair on Sunday the 19th of July, I had a bad fall. Being half-asleep and severely sleep-deprived at 5:30 in the morning, I completely missed the step and essentially stepped right into mid-air. I flew down 12 steps, put my arms out to stop myself, but I landed hard against a wall and severely banged my head.

It appears I blacked out, and when I came round, my partner was on the phone calling an ambulance. As I was waiting for the ambulance, I had what we thought was a seizure again, but it turns out the combination of the concussion and shock triggered a stroke.

I ended up in the trauma unit of Princess Alexandra Hospital, where they were concerned I had broken my neck. While I was there, my head blew up like a balloon, and my right knee was completely knackered after I removed all the skin from that area. After being given the OK on the scans and X-rays, I was sent home and told to be monitored for the next few days.

As my knee, elbows, head, and eye sockets turned all shades of yellow and green, I started to feel unwell again two days later. I ended up being taken back to the hospital by ambulance when my stats dropped because they thought I might have a bleed on the brain. Unfortunately, I was dumped in A&E for 10 hours, and when I was told it would be another 7 hours before I was even seen—let alone scanned—as I didn't feel any worse, I left.

I did manage to get myself a CT scan at a clinic in London several days later. While I was there, someone tried to mug me! (I was already injured and was more than happy to help them join me so he didn't get my phone!)

Anyway, the CT scan came back mostly okay. There is some minor damage and an inflamed right ventricle, which I need to have monitored as they aren't sure if it was damage from the stroke or the fall, or if it has always been like that—who knows! Time will truly tell what I've lost brain-wise, and I'm taking it day by day.

My Etsy shop had to be closed and I did get behind on orders as I wasn't able to work, but as always, my customers are the best—so patient and understanding. Thank you.

Thank you all again for your incredible patience, kind messages, and support while I navigate getting back on my feet. My Etsy store is open again, and I've managed to get my new website up—it's been delayed, but it's here! My yoga teacher training has also been put on hold, as has going to my 6 yoga classes a week, but I'm on the mend and getting back to normal. So there's the update.

I do seem to be OK, multitasking is a bit trickier, and also my short-term memory seems screwed for now, as are my energy levels. But onwards and upwards—or, as my doctor prefers, stationary and horizontal!

Also I'm expected to live in a Bubble wrap suit for the rest of my life!

And as stairs are a bit of challenge for me I may be going into new line of 3D Design! lol
