Bringing Galaxy’s Edge to the 3.75" World

If you’ve been keeping an eye on park releases and Disney Store drops lately, you probably saw the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge comic book sets. The overall presentation—bundling a comic, a collector coin, and a sculpted figure—is fantastic. But when collectors actually got them in hand, one detail left a lot of us in the 3.75" world scratching our heads: the scale.

Instead of leaning into the classic 3.75" (1:18) standard that built decades of Star Wars collecting, these sets featured figures packed in at around 2.5 to 3 inches.

While it’s great to see Batuu’s most iconic characters getting official physical releases, putting them at an odd, miniature scale feels like a massive missed opportunity for Worldbuilding. For those of us who have spent years building custom Black Spire Outpost dioramas, cantinas, and shelves scaled specifically for 3.75", these undersized figures just don't fit into the display.

So, I decided to fix it myself.

The 3.75" Batuu Expansion

When planning this project, I took a look at the lineup. The comic set includes a First Order Stormtrooper—but let’s be honest, you can pick up standard 3.75" First Order Stormtroopers everywhere for credits. There was no need to waste workshop time reinventing the wheel on a army builder that already exists in abundance across multiple lines.

Instead, I focused all my effort on the four unique, heavy-hitting characters that actually needed proper 3.75" scale representations:

  • Dok-Ondar: The legendary Ithorian collector and proprietor of the Den of Antiquities. Translating his distinctive outfit, robes, and massive alien frame to true 3.75" scale was an absolute blast.
  • Hondo Ohnaka: Everyone’s favorite Weequay pirate turned "legitimate" transport operator. Hondo is a staple of Batuu, and having him at proper 3.75" height means he can finally stand side-by-side with your vintage-style Smugglers and Scoundrels.
  • DJ R-3X (Rex): The former blundering Star Tours pilot turned Oga’s Cantina DJ. Getting his mechanical details, panels, and proportions right at 1:18 scale makes him ready to be dropped straight into any custom Cantina setup.
  • Galaxy’s Edge Chewbacca: Complete with his specific park-inspired details, the Wookiee warrior gets a proper, full-stature 3.75" build to stand tall next to the rest of the crew.

Filling the Void

It’s always a bit frustrating when official merchandise tiptoes around the classic scales we love, but that’s the beauty of custom action figure design. When official releases drop the ball on scale, the customizer community steps in to bridge the gap.

Now, instead of stuck-in-between miniature novelties, these four key figures can take their rightful place in a proper 3.75" Black Spire Outpost display.

Which Galaxy's Edge character do you think deserves a proper 3.75" release next? Let me know in the comments!
